What is CHAAMP?

CHAAMP is a site for sports fans. Our goal is to gather the best sports stories from around the internet, to give you a place to read about and discuss the latest developments in sports, and to enable you to network with other sports fans from all over the world.

Where do the stories come from?

All of the stories are submitted by users. Every registered user has the ability to submit new stories. Stories can be sports news, a story from a newspaper, a blog post, a humor column, or pretty much any link that has anything to do with sports. Do you have a story that you want to add? Submit it and share it with everyone.

What's up with the points and the scores?

Every story starts with a score of zero. Every registered user has the ability to add one point to each story's score. If you read a story you like, add a point to its score. The best and most popular stories will end up with the highest scores.

How do stories get to the front page?

When stories are first added to CHAAMP they go into the "new stories" section, which you can find by clicking the find new stories link on the main menu. Registered users can then "score points" for the stories they like, and over time the stories with the most points and activity will be added to the front page. After a length of time, stories that don't receive enough points (or receive a lot of penalties) will disappear from the "new stories" section, but will still be accessable via the search function.

What are teams?

Every registered user has the ability to create a team. Adding a user to your team makes it easy for you to track their activity on CHAAMP. You might add a user to your team because they have similar interests to yours, because they submit good stories, because they make insightful comments, or for any reason at all. You can track your entire team's activity, see stats on each individual member, and even check out your team members' teams.

What are user scores?

Just like the stories on CHAAMP, every user has a score. You can "score points" for a user by adding them to your team. High scores will typically indicate users who have been around for awhile, contribute to the CHAAMP community, and/or have earned a level of respect from their peers.

Do I need to register?

You don't need to register for an account to read stories and comments. However, you will need to register if you want to submit stories, score points, add comments, create a team, or participate in any other interactive aspect of the community. Registration is easy and free, so go ahead and sign up!

How do I edit my profile?

Once you are registered and logged in, you can edit your CHAAMP profile to let the community know about you and what type of fan you are. Once you are registered and logged in, you'll see the "edit profile" link on your user menu at the top of the right-hand column.

How do I customize my picture?

Registered users can add a small picture to their account to establish an identity and make themselves easier to see. To reach the "update image" page, click the "update image" tab near the top of the "edit profile" page.
